Inn to Inn trail ride in Spain, Andalusia, in the Cabo de Gata Natural Park. You will ride through the Cabo de Gata Natural Park. INDICATIVE ITINERARY :
Day 1: Meeting and transfer from Almeria airport, bus station or train station or Granada airport to the equestrian center. Presentation of the ride, dinner and overnight in a nice hotel in Rodalquilar.
Day 2: RODALQUILAR - EL PLAYAZO - CALA DEL CUERVO. In the morning, after breakfast, assignment of horses and adaptation in arena before the departure. For the first day, you will discover the eastern part of the Natural Park. You head towards the "torre de los lobos" where you can enjoy the view over the whole natural park if the weather is clea, andr up to the snow-capped peaks of the Sierra Nevada. You ride to the beach of "el playazo", known since the Roman presence, which was a landmark of pirates. You crossa palm tree oasis, fed by small springs. Picnic at the seaside, at the "Cala del Cuervo".Overnight in a hotel with swimming pool. About 5h to 5h30 on horseback.
Day 3: RODALQUILAR - ISLETA DEL MORO-SAN JOSÉ. You leave Rodalquilar by a path that runs along the coast. These trails used to be used to monitor the coasts in the event of an attack by pirates, which explains the presence of small castles and watchtowers. Picnic on the beach of Escullos, hidden behind its small palm tree oasis. Night in a comfortable hotel with swimming pool. About 5h30 on horseback.
Day 4: SAN JOSÉ - BEACH OF GENOVESES - SAN JOSÉ. Genoveses, Monsul, Media Luna, and the siren reef are undoubtedly the last unspoiled beaches of the Mediterranean which, with their white sand dunes, have been sites for many famous films: Indiana Jones, Lawrence of Arabia, For a Handful of Dollars. For lunch, you have a picnic at the foot of the cortijo "El romeral", one of the typical facilities that used to be, for a time, housing for the farmers. In the afternoon, you will ride up the valley "del tesorillo". About 6 hours on horseback.
Day 5: SAN JOSÉ - LAS NEGRAS. To the north of the park, are the mountains of the Sierra de Gata, where the craters of ancient volcanoes are surrounded by a lunar landscape and typical villages such as "Los Albaricoques". Here were shot some famous westerns such as "for a handful of dollars", "the good, the bad and the ugly." The street names are Clint Eastwood, Sergio Leone ... Day 6: LAS NEGRAS - GOLDEN MINE - LA NEGRAS. You will follow the old gold mine path, riding in small canyonss that were once the only connection between farms, between the sea and the mountains. You will cross the crater of the volcano that now forms the Valley of Rodalquilar. You will discover the cliffs that still hide gold, and visit the old facilities of the mine that has been operating since 1933 and that finally closed in 1986. Picnic at the gold mine. Overnight in a hotel that offers a spa, sauna, hammam, jacuzzi, water jets, optional massages with supplement. About 5h to 5h30 on horseback.
Day 7: LA NEGRAS - RODALQUILAR. Las Negras is a beautiful place, of a spectacular geology, in a fishermen atmosphere. At the bottom of the bay is El Cerro Negro (La Colline Noire), an impressive rock formation that has the appearance of a lava language, witness to what was the Natural Park of Cabo de Gata. In Las Negras, there are orchards watered by water coming from small flows of fresh water of the Rambla de las Agüillas and accumulated in small ponds close to the sea. Paella lunch in a restaurant by the sea. 3h to 3h30 on horseback.
