Itinerary

HORSEBACK TRAIL RIDE IN CATALUNIA
INDICATIVE ITINERARY *

Day 1 - Welcome ! In the evening upon, you arrive at the equestrian farm of Can Grau. The country cottage, name is « Masia » in Catalan language, is located in the Empordá region in the middle of nature, hidden from busy people and curious. It is a more than two hundred years antic Catalan farmhouse converted into a rural guest house for tourism and horseback activities. After a homemade cooked dinner we will explain the program of the week and we will talk about the characteristics of our crossed horses of Spanish and Arabic, the best of each breed. You also will have the opportunity of an individualized one-to-one conversation designed to find the ideal horse for each rider.

image-20221011131545-2 Day 2 - After a good breakfast, you prepare the horses with the help and recommendations of your guide. Today your destination, is the village of Ravós del Terri with its magnificent, very well preserved castle. You cross the "Serra" through fields and forests where you can enjoy beautiful views over the northern region of Girona, up to the Pyrenees mountains, with their snow-capped peaks. After the picnic, you return to the horse farm via a smooth path lined with farmland and farms: the typical Catalan countryside. As soon as you arrive, you can enjoy moments of relaxation in the gardens or at the pool, or in the company of the horses who will take a well-deserved rest in the farm meadows.

image-20221011131713-3 Day 3 - Today you head to the beautiful unspoilt region of Vilademuls. Leaving the equestrian center, heading north, you cross the small village of Vilafreser and discover its Gothic-Renaissance church of Romanesque origin, with a 14th century facade. You enjoy lovely trots and canters on country tracks through a dense forest with rosemary and thyme everywhere, finally having a picnic near the village of Tarradelles. On the way back you pass typical farms, fields and crops. In the distance, you can see the medieval tower of Vilafreser. Due to its great height of 18 meters, it is considered an exception in these typically Catalan towers.

Day 4 - Today the ride takes you to beautiful poplar and beech forests along the Ter River. The trail is lined with fields and forests, crosses the village of Medinyà below its castle where you can admire views of the Gavarres mountains. After a delicious picnic by the river, you make a pleasant return alternating small paths with immense meadows and dense and varied forests. During the journey you pass through the village of Cervià de Ter where you can tour the castle. Upon arrival, you can enjoy moments of relaxation in the gardens or on the terrace overlooking the horses. For dinner, Anne has prepared an excellent home-cooked meal in Catalan and Provence style.

image-20221011131756-4 Day 5: After breakfast, you prepare your horse and set off on the trails in the dense Mediterranean forest, following the mountain ridge, with spectacular views of the range, fields and meadows. You arrive at the Fluvià river, next to Báscara and its famous racecourse. Then you continue between olive groves and grain fields, passing farms and churches, and finally a canter on wide tracks through the forest of oaks and cork oaks, which brings you to Galliners, where you have a picnic . You finally arrive at the horse farm passing through the small village of Vilamarí. Once your horse is showered and in the meadow, you enjoy a moment with a glass of cava to celebrate your pleasant experience on these lands in the company of the horses.

Day 6 - Adios ! End of your stay after breakfast and departure.

MEETING:
Day 1 directly at your accommodation between 5 and 8 pm.
Paid transfer from Girona airport at 7:30 p.m., from Barcelona airport at 6 p.m.

DEPARTURE:
The morning of day 6 after breakfast. Transfer to Girona airport (arrival around 10 a.m.), or Barcelona airport (arrival around 11:30 a.m.).

TRANSFER PRICES:
Gerona round trip: 60 € per person.
Barcelona round trip: 120 € per person.
Transfers are payable locally.

Riding

RIDING LEVEL:
You must be confident at the three gaits (walk, trot, canter). Minimum age: 9 years old if good rider.

RIDING TIMES:
About 4-5 hours per day.

GROUP SIZE:
Maximum 8-10 riders.

GUIDE:
Professional licensed guide. The guide speaks Spanish, English, French, German.

Trail ride horses, crossed Spanish and Arabian.

TACK:
English saddles equiped with saddle bags.

Comfort

ACCOMMODATION:
On the equestrian center, in comfortable rooms in an old Catalan farmhouse over two hundred years old, transformed into a rural guest house for tourism and equestrian activities. Has a lovely swimming pool and garden to relax in.
It is an old Catalan farmhouse immersed in a landscape of forests and meadows. The farm has been restored with simplicity and with the greatest respect for the environment, both for the materials and for the architectural and comfort solutions. Specially designed for stays in harmony with nature and enjoying the horses: you can see them from the terraces and the garden, they graze peacefully in the vast meadows in the surrounding area.

In the evening, dinners are served in your accommodation with local produces. At noon, copious picnics are prepared by an assistant. Wine is included with meals.

Your personal information (birth date, height, weight, riding level & experience, health information, etc.) are contractuals. The facility / guide / instructor may exclude on site and without compensation, any person whose information is different from the information provided on the registration form, and/or who does not correspond to the conditions of participation.

3. INSURANCES:
Cap Rando is covered for its professional civil liability: GENERALI contract n ° AL974010.
To register on a Cap Rando holiday, you must be covered by an individual liability insurance covering your activity, individual accident, assistance, repatriation, and possibly cancellation (strongly recommended not to lose your payment in case of cancellation for a reason covered by a cancellation insurance).
We offer to Europe Union, Switzerland, Liechtenstein, Norway residents (only) to subscribe the "Cap Security" insurance from Chapka Insurance. This covers you for cancellation, interruption of stay, individual accident, assistance 24h / 24h, repatriation, medical expenses abroad, luggage insurance, civil liability. You can also only subscribe a "Cap Cancellation" cancellation insurance if you have insurance covering other risks.

For other country citizens: if you pay by credit card, depending on your card, you may be fully covered: check your contract.

4. PAYMENT:
- For a stay starting at more than 60 days: It is requested at registration: 30% of the price of the stay, the payment of the insurance possibly subscribed, the transport possibly requested, the booking fees. The balance is to be paid 60 days before the start date of the stay.
- For a stay starting at less than 60 days: Full payment is requested upon registration.
- For a stay starting at less than 21 days: Full payment by credit card is requested upon registration.
- If these are the last places available: Payment by credit card is requested upon registration.
You can pay:
- By credit card on our secure payment website: You will be directed to the payment link after completing the online booking form.
- By bank transfer: Our bank information will be sent to you after reception of your booking form.
For a quick processing and to secure your registration, receipt of your confirmation file within 24-48 hours: choose a payment by credit card. In addition: payment by credit card can allow you to benefit from its possible insurance.
Please note: your reservation will only be confirmed after receipt of your payment.

If you book a trip through Cap Rando, you have the guarantee not to loose any payment.
The French law is the strongest and requires all French travel agencies to have an unlimited financial guarantee for their customers in case of financial failure.

5. CONFIRMATION:
You will receive a confirmation file and contract with the invoice and all useful information within 24-48 hours after reception of your registration form and payment.

6. TRANSPORTS:
Before booking your transport: we advise you to wait for the receipt of the confirmation file and check that your transports feet with the meeting/separation times of the offered transfers. We recommend booking refundable transports.

7. CANCELATION POLICY:
Please note: Any stay may be canceled if there are insufficient bookings to ensure the stay up to 20 days before the date of a stay of more than 6 days, 7 days for a stay of 2 to 5 days. In this case, you may be offered a replacement stay or a departure with a supplement, if these proposals do not suit you: a full refund (unless you have accepted a possible supplement upon registration), excluding booking fees and possible non-refundable transport, is guaranteed without compensation.

Reception: Super welcome from the manager, very caring, with home cooked meals at all meals. We even had a Catalan dessert cooked in front of us the last evening.
Cavalry: The general condition of the cavalry (Excellent). My horse (Excellent). Well-treated, well-fed horses that evolve in a healthy outdoor environment.
Saddlery & Equipment: Excellent. Endurance material, Wintec synthetic saddle, good condition.
The comfort, cleanliness and comfort of the accommodation (s): Excellent. Very nice cottage, spacious room with bathtub.
Your general satisfaction on the stay: Excellent stay with very attentive staff, nice and well-treated horses and various landscapes every day!
Quality of the Cap Rando services: Excellent. Good follow-up of our file despite our many discussions, listening to our desires and constraints, we recommend Cap Rando! Only small point of improvement: we asked for a paying transfer and asked if another option was possible: we were told that we could rent a car. However, we discovered when arriving on site by the service provider that it was possible to take a train to access a closer town, which would have reduced the cost of the transfer.
