WHEN TO GO HORSEBACK RIDING IN REUNION

Reunion Island is characterized by a humid tropical climate tempered by the oceanic influence of the trade winds blowing from east to west. The island's climate is distinguished by its great variability, particularly due to its imposing topography, which creates numerous microclimates. Consequently, there are significant disparities in rainfall between the windward coast in the east and the leeward coast in the west, and in temperature between the warmer coastal areas and the relatively cool higher altitude zones. Reunion Island has two distinct seasons, defined by rainfall patterns:

  • a rainy season from January to March, during which the majority of the year's rainfall falls;
  • a dry season extending from May to November. However, on the eastern part and the foothills of the volcano, rainfall can be significant even during the dry season;
  • April and December are transitional months, sometimes very rainy but can also sometimes be very dry.
