Horseback riding in Savoie, in the French Alps: a unique experience, between Geneva and Chamonix, this horseback riding tour in Haute Savoie begins in Samoëns, classified as a “Ville Fleurie”. This horseback riding tour of the “7 monts” of Haute Savoie comes from the toponym of Samoëns which, according to local belief, designates the “seven monts or mountains”, sometimes mountain pastures, which surround the town. The word is said to be of Franco-Provençal origin and composed of sat (“seven”) and moens, deriving from the Latin montis which literally designates a “mountain” but which in this case would be taken as mountain pasture. This “Alpine” horseback riding tour is accessible to all, the horses raised at over 900 meters are calm, … capable of enduring the bad weather and the strong temperature variations which characterize Haute-Savoie.
