HORSE RIDING IN THE DOMINICAN REPUBLIC
INDICATIVE ITINERARY *
Day 1: Arrival at the Dominican Republic, welcome, transfer to Las Terrenas (about 1h45 from Santo Domingo Airport, 45 minutes from El Catey), welcome cocktail, installation at the hotel and dinner or light snack (in case of late arrival) to get used to the jet lag.
Day 2: La Barbacoa (about 4-5 hours on horseback). Breakfast then transfer to the Hacienda where you will meet your horse and the rest of the team. Then departure for La Barbacoa through the forest. Late lunch on arrival where you can enjoy the swimming pool. Return to the hotel by car, the horses stay on site.
Day 3: The Limon beaches (about 3 hours on horseback). Breakfast then transfer to La Barbacoa. 1/2 day Limon beaches, small or even full gallop on a deserted beach. You then leave for lunch at Santi's in Limon, after which a short trek (on foot, about 2 hours) to the famous waterfalls. Return to the hotel by concho (authentic!) Or by car in case of rain.
Day 4: Hacienda (about 4-5 hours on horseback). Breakfast, transfer to the Barbacoa where you collect your mounts for the return to the Hacienda via the mountains and the coffee route. You will discover the Dominican Republic in a different way, the kindness of its inhabitants, with a typical lunch at Elena's which will make you discover the secrets of cocoa and coffee making. Dinner and overnight at your hotel.
Day 5: Rest. Rest for you as for your horse. You have the option of doing nothing or opting for an excursion (optional, bookable on site) to "Los Haitises" to discover the Tainos Indians, a boat trip or a beach marathon. Dinner and overnight at the hotel.
Day 6: Village-Forêt-Plage (about 5 hours on horseback). You go to discover a little more Las
Terrenas, by crossing small typical and very animated districts on horseback, then you gradually move away from civilization to discover the charms of a little gallop ... in the tropical forest !! You then arrive on a lagoon with very little bottom where you will have the pleasure of unsaddling and swimming with the horses who love swimming, and will know how to make you understand it. Picnic on the beach (lobster in season), then return to the hacienda where you will be served a fruit snack, horse care, and return to the hotel.
Day 7: Day 7: The Crests (about 5 hours on horseback). Prepare yourselves ! Today you will be doing the most difficult ride, but undoubtedly one of the most beautiful. You will go to the highest peaks of Las Terrenas, amidst conuco (wild vegetable gardens) in the mountains, and you may be able to taste wild oranges, grapefruits and pineapples as well as a multitude of other fruits in abundance. You will be on the most remote paths, and will certainly meet herds of cows and horses in semi-freedom. This path may require a few feet walking. Picnic on the way, then return to the Hacienda where you will be served a fruit snack. Horse care. Night at the hotel.
Day 8: End of your stay and transfer to the airport.
