Itinerary

HORSE RIDING HOLIDAY IN PORTUGAL
INDICATIVE PROGRAM*

Sunday to Saturday (days 1 to 7):
On your arrival Sunday (day 1), you can arrive between 4 pm and 7 pm (dinner is at 7 pm).
The exact lesson times will be arranged with your instructor and will depend on your preferences, horse availability, and the number of participants. Lessons last approximately 50 minutes.
Breakfast is served daily from 8:30 am to 10 am. Lunch is served at 1 pm. Dinner is served at 7 pm.
Lessons are generally private, allowing you to focus entirely on your goals: whether it's strengthening your position, improving your lateral work, or working on your gaits.
Lessons are conducted in English or Portuguese.
The head instructor is an experienced rider and trainer with a creative and personalized approach.
You have 2 lessons per day Monday to Friday (Saturday morning extra lesson to pay locally). When you are not riding, you can watch the horses being trained by the staff or the other students' work sessions... or relax at the swimming pool from 9:30 am to 7 pm!

Day 8. Saturday. Optional: a class on Saturday morning (see price in the price section). Lunch at the quinta. Transfer (not included) to Lisbon airport for the meeting at 5 pm. You will have a free transfer to your accommodation in a comfortable country hotel in Grândola, approximately 120 km away. This hotel is a charming country house with friendly staff and all the comforts of a modern hotel. You will find a relaxed atmosphere and can swim in the pool or rest in the comfortable rooms before your first day of riding. Dinner is at your leisure, either at the hotel or in a local restaurant.

Day 9. Sunday. Today, we drive you to Passeios a Cavalo Melides, where the horses await you at the stables. You set off on horseback through the Grandola hills, admiring magnificent cork oak landscapes. You stop for lunch at one of the most beautiful panoramic viewpoints in the region, where the ruins of an ancient church can be found. You enjoy a delicious picnic lunch prepared with typical Portuguese dishes, accompanied by good wine. You rest a little after lunch, then return to your horseback riding through the centuries-old cork oak forests. You arrive at Coudelaria Quinta do Almargem, where you stable the horses. A short 10-minute transfer takes you back to your hotel, where you can freshen up and prepare for dinner at your leisure at a local restaurant in Melides.

Day 10. Monday. Today, you'll ride through forests of eucalyptus, cork oak, and wild trees, enjoying their distinctive fragrances and listening to the bark crunch under the horses' hooves. You'll stop for lunch at a spot with breathtaking sea views. After your picnic, you can enjoy a relaxing siesta. Then, you'll have the opportunity to gallop along the sandy trails that crisscross this part of the Portuguese countryside. Dinner is at your leisure at a local restaurant, and you'll spend the night at the hotel.

Day 11. Tuesday. Today, you'll depart from the beach stables for a 1.5-hour ride to the beach, then cross through pine forest and wild dunes. A short canter is possible before reaching a charming picnic spot in the forest where the horses will rest while you have lunch. After lunch, you'll ride through the forest and rice paddies. Dinner is at your leisure at a local restaurant.

Day 12. Wednesday. Rest day. Optional dolphin watching excursion (supplement of €75 per person, payable locally). Lunch at your leisure. Dinner at your leisure and overnight stay at your accommodation.

Day 13. Thursday. Today, you'll ride from the beach stables into the hills. It's a beautiful ride where you'll have the opportunity for a fantastic gallop before arriving back in the hills to return to the stables where the horses are resting. After the ride, a short transfer will take you to your accommodation.

Day 14. Friday. Today, you'll embark on a horseback riding excursion in the hills, enjoying panoramic views and magnificent scenery. There will be plenty of opportunities to gallop. Your horse will safely guide you through rice paddies, along sandy and rocky paths. Upon your return, you can enjoy a refreshing swim at the hotel. A farewell dinner at a traditional restaurant is on your own.

Day 15. Saturday. After breakfast, transfer to Lisbon airport and departure.

Meeting / Departure

MEETING:
Day 1 afternoon of your choice (usually Sunday), directly at the equestrian center between 4 and 7 pm (the dinner is served at 7 pm) or at Lisbon airport: optional transfer.

DEPARTURE:
On the day of your choice (minimum 3 nights), generally Saturday after breakfast (served between 8:30 and 10:00) or after lunch (included), check-out before 12:00. Optional transfer to Lisbon.

TRANSFER FROM LISBON UPON ARRIVAL & ON SATURDAY TO JOIN THE TRAIL RIDE:
125 € / 4-person car / transfer = 250 € for both transfers
Transfers payable on site in cash or by card.

CAR RENTAL:
We recommend car rental, which is particularly advantageous in Portugal, on the site www.autoeurope.fr.

FLIGHTS:
Flights to Portugal are not included in our prices because it is generally more interesting to book your flights yourself, an inclusive package is generally more expensive with the agency commissions. However, we are at your disposal to help you find the best rates.

Riding

RIDING LEVEL:
To be comfortable at all three gaits outdoors.

SUPERVISION:
First week: High-level instructor speaking only English and Portuguese.
Second week of hiking: Local guide speaking Portuguese, English, and some French.

PROCESS:
The first week: You'll usually warm up with one instructor, then switch to another for the rest of your course. You have 2 lessons per day Monday to Friday (Optional: a class on Saturday morning (see price in the price section).
The second week of trail riding: Moderate paces, with trot and medium to long canters. Some faster canters. 4-5 hours in the saddle per day on average.

HORSES:
The first week: purebred Lusitano and crossbred horses.
The second week, a trail ride: the horses are Arabians and Lusitano/Arabian crosses. The facility breeds Arabians.

TACK:
The first week: Dressage saddles with double side reins. You can also ask to try traditional Portuguese saddles.
The second week, on a trail ride: English saddles

Comfort

ACCOMMODATION:
The first week: In a typical Portuguese quinta, an hour's drive north of Lisbon: a working vineyard. Comfortable double rooms with private bathrooms; single rooms available for an additional fee.There is a swimming pool (unheated) with a barbecue and a gym, as well as a tennis and basketball court. Massage sessions are available for an extra charge. The equestrian center is a short walk from the main quinta.

The facility / guide / instructor may exclude on site and without compensation, any person whose information is different from the information provided on the registration form, and/or who does not correspond to the conditions of participation.

3. INSURANCES:
Cap Rando is covered for its professional civil liability: GENERALI contract n ° AL974010.
To register on a Cap Rando holiday, you must be covered by an individual liability insurance covering your activity, individual accident, assistance, repatriation, and possibly cancellation (strongly recommended not to lose your payment in case of cancellation for a reason covered by a cancellation insurance).
We offer to Europe Union, Switzerland, Liechtenstein, Norway residents (only) to subscribe the "Cap Security" insurance from Chapka Insurance. This covers you for cancellation, interruption of stay, individual accident, assistance 24h / 24h, repatriation, medical expenses abroad, luggage insurance, civil liability. You can also only subscribe a "Cap Cancellation" cancellation insurance if you have insurance covering other risks.

4. PAYMENT:
- For a stay starting at more than 60 days: It is requested at registration: 50% of the price of the stay, the payment of the insurance possibly subscribed, the transport possibly requested, the booking fees. The balance is to be paid 60 days before the start date of the stay.
- For a stay starting at less than 60 days: Full payment is requested upon registration.
- For a stay starting at less than 21 days: Full payment by credit card is requested upon registration.
- If these are the last places available: Payment by credit card is requested upon registration.
You can pay:
- By credit card on our secure payment website: You will be directed to the payment link after completing the online booking form.
- By bank transfer: Our bank information will be sent to you after reception of your booking form.
For a quick processing and to secure your registration, receipt of your confirmation file within 24-48 hours: choose a payment by credit card. In addition: payment by credit card can allow you to benefit from its possible insurance.
Please note: your reservation will only be confirmed after receipt of your payment.

5. CONFIRMATION:
You will receive a confirmation file and contract with the invoice and all useful information within 24-48 hours after reception of your registration form and payment.

6. TRANSPORTS:
Before booking your transport: we advise you to wait for the receipt of the confirmation file and check that your transports feet with the meeting/separation times of the offered transfers. We recommend booking refundable transports.

7. CANCELATION POLICY:
Please note: Any stay may be canceled if there are insufficient bookings to ensure the stay up to 20 days before the date of a stay of more than 6 days, 7 days for a stay of 2 to 5 days. In this case, you may be offered a replacement stay or a departure with a supplement, if these proposals do not suit you: a full refund (unless you have accepted a possible supplement upon registration), excluding booking fees and possible non-refundable transport, is guaranteed without compensation.
