Programme intro

HORSEBACK TRAIL RIDE IN ANDALUSIA
INDICATIVE ITINERARY *

Day 1: Meeting in Andalusia. Transfer from Almeria airport, bus station or train station. Night in a hotel near San José.

Day 2: Genoveses beach. Genoveses, with its white sand dunes, used to be the location for many movie shootings: Indiana Jones, Arabian Laurance… During this first day, you will discover an extraordinary landscape: undoubtedly the last wild beaches of the Mediterranean. Free lunch, afternoon and dinner.
About 3 hours on horseback the morning.

Day 3: The pirate trail. You follow the trails on horseback along the cliffs of Cabo de Gata Natural Park, and discover the most spectacular views of the Mediterranean in the area. This ride passes through an old path that served as a connection between the castles and the watchtowers: indeed, during the 18th century, there were coast guards to prevent and protect in the event of a pirate invasion. Free lunch, afternoon and dinner.
About 3 hours on horseback the morning.

Day 4: The Volcano Valley. To the North of the park, are the Sierra de Gata mountains, which have preserved the craters of ancient volcanoes, creating a lunar landscape. They were in action 15 to 16 million years ago. At the time, the population worked to irrigate this area, using this huge volcanic cone to collect rainwater which concentrates on its lower part, where the crops are located. You ride on the sides of the volcanoes and canter on the paths that lead from the volcanoes to the sea. Free lunch, afternoon and dinner.
About 3 hours on horseback the morning.

Day 5: The Andalusian “cortijos”. As you enter the Cabo de Gata natural park, you pass typical Andalusian constructions: the famous "cortijos", some of Arab origin. These are isolated houses where families who worked in the fields lived, some of which have become “white villages”, self-sufficient with rainwater harvesting systems (“aljibes”), rudimentary installations for the cultivation of cereals (“ eras”) and windmills for making flour. Free lunch, afternoon and dinner.
About 3 hours on horseback the morning.

Day 6: Monsùl beach. Mónsul is a 400-meter-long beach, surrounded by rock formations of volcanic origin on its sides, and a huge dune of fine sand. In the middle of the beach, there is a large rock that has become the emblem of this beach and of the natural park, called La Peineta de Mónsul. This rock is shaped like a giant wave that seems to want to return to the sea. Steven Spielberg chose this beach to film "Indiana Jones" and "The Last Crusade" with Harrison Ford and Sean Connery. Free lunch, afternoon and dinner.
About 3 hours on horseback the morning.

Day 7: End of your horseback ride in Andalusia. Transfer to Almeria after breakfast.

* Indicative itinerary, which may be subject to modifications if necessary.

GUEST REVIEWS
Nicole (non-rider) and her granddaughter Noellia (France) - October 2023

Michel the instructor - Nothing to say - very helpful and available.
Noelia -12 years old- sometimes felt insecure because she discovered steep and stony terrain that was unknown to her. But that’s the goal of this kind of stay ! Dakota was very kind to her young rider.
Hotel Dona Pakyta in San José is a very nice establishment. We were very well accommodated in a sea view room with a beautiful terrace.
A small downside on the quality of the bedding, which is a little “stiff”!! Very good varied food.
The only downside to this stay is that Noelia found herself alone !! So a little disappointed not to share this stay with other teenagers or adults which could perhaps have caused a little emulation. Positive side: an instructor for her alone but at 12 years old, possible friends count a lot!
Cap Rando Services: Nothing to say ! Everything went very well - registration - payment.

Jean (Belgium) - May 2022

Our guide, Anton: more than perfect. Listening to everyone. I learned a lot. What a beautiful person and very respectful of animals !
My horse Morgana y Faraz and the tack were perfect !
Comfortable accommodation.
Excellent services from Cap Rando !
Stay to recommend !
