Nowhere else will you be so surprised by the diversity of changes in atmosphere, terrain, colors, mineral and plant materials. Nights under the stars, evenings by the fireside, meeting with the nomadic Bedouins of southern Jordan. Riding Arabian horses and Bedouin tradition. This ride starts with the visit of Petra, then five days horseback riding in the Wadi Rum desert. And to finish: swimming and relaxing in the Dead Sea with accommodation in the extraordinary Holiday Inn with its private beach.
HORSE RIDE IN JORDAN
INDICATIVE ITINERARY *
Day 1 - Saturday: Pick up at Amman airport and transfer to the hotel. Dinner not included due to late arrivals of flights. Night at the hotel.
Day 2 - Sunday: After breakfast, early departure for Petra (2h30 to 3 hour drive). The opportunity to visit this legendary site on foot, accompanied at the start by a Jordanian guide until leaving the Siq at Khazneh (the treasure). Lunch (not included, but possibility of catering on site). Then you are free to explore this majestic site by yourself until nightfall. Meet at the hotel in the evening for dinner. Night at the hotel in Petra.
Day 3 - Monday: Morning transfer to the Wadi Rum stables Wadi Rum (approx. 1 hour and a half drive) where the desert team and the horses await you. The local team belongs to the Al Zoulabia tribe of Wadi Rum and knows the desert like their pocket. After a Jordanian coffee, you prepare the horses, whose allocation is based on the level of each rider. You ride in the direction of the south of the massif, passing near the source of Lawrence of Arabia which is at the foot of Djebel Rum, the highest Jordanian peak which culminates at 1784 meters, and at the foot of the Khazali mountain. You visit its canyon and its Talmudic inscriptions. Along the way, you stop for a lunch break in the shade of the mountains before continuing the afternoon on the slopes of Djebel Katar. Night in camp.
Day 4 - Tuesday: You continue your ride towards the great south, you pass near the caves of Arab Antar, famous Bedouin warrior. This lunch, your meal takes place in the heart of the pink mountain of Swebit. Here, far from tourism, still live a few Bedouin families according to ancient traditions. Night in camp. From 4 to 6 hours on horseback.
Day 5 - Wednesday: This morning, you ride up the suspended plateau of Nogra which rises to 1450 meters, and makes you gain height. The deep sand imposes a slow progression, the horses sometimes cross large herds of camels, shepherds with their sheep, here the Bedouins find food all year for their animals. This part of the desert is still wild and there are some wolves who live there far from civilization. During your descent, you will enjoy the breathtaking view of the Wadi Rum Massif, the Jebel Burdha with its arch and the Djebel Rum, which rises in the distance. In the afternoon the slopes of Thora offer beautiful opportunities for gallops. Night in camp.
Day 6 - Thursday: You leave in the direction of Burdha's Ark, by pretty slopes on the mountainside. Lunch at the foot of the arch. Afternoon, towards the north pyramids of Barrah canyon, passing by the house of Lawrence of Arabia, an ancient Nabataean temple with a superb view of the red sand valleys. Overnight in Um Zelga, the camp is located at the foot of the De Barrah pyramids. 4 to 6 hours on horseback
Day 7 - Friday: This morning, you cross the Barrah canyon, a climbing paradise. You will have lunch in the northern part of the pyramids. Afternoon on the large clay expanses of Diseh where camel races take place. Night in camp. About 5 hours on horseback.
Day 8 - Saturday: After breakfast at 10 am, you leave the hotel for the Dead Sea, with a break at the Mount Nebo site for a one hour visit. Arrival and installation at the Holiday Inn Dead Sea hotel (5 stars). You have a snack bought on the road or at the hotel restaurant, enjoy the Dead Sea and hotel facilities, before your dinner. Night at the hotel.
Day 9 - Sunday: Departure after breakfast, transfer to Amman airport.
* Indicative itineraries. They may be changed: the climatic conditions, the winds, the changing nature of the terrain, the physical condition of the riders ... determine daily the route, and the choice of camp locations. This under the responsibility of the guide, in charge of the group.
MEETING:
Saturday at Amman airport. Transfer at 7 pm or 11 pm.
DEPARTURE:
Monday after breakfast, transfer to Amman airport.
AIRPORT TRANSFERS:
Amman airport transfers are free at the fixed times. Out of the fixed times: 50 € / car / transfer to pay locally.
FLIGHTS:
It is more interesting to book your ticket, a transport package included is generally more expensive with agency commissions. However, we are at your disposal to help you find the best rates or to offer you a transport trip included on request. We advise you the following companies: Turkish Airlines Austrian et Alitalia.
RIDING LEVEL:
You must be able to walk, trot, canter and galop outdoor on open spaces.
HORSES:
Arabs or crossed, well balanced, trail rides professionals.
TACK:
English "Wintec" saddles.
GUIDE:
Local English speaking guide and assistants, tranfering luggage and preparing meals.
HEBERGEMENT:
3 nights in hotels in 2-3 person bedrooms, 4 nights in camps.
CAMPS:
2-person tents provided with comfortable foam mattresses, you can book rooms and individual tents at an additional cost. Showers are available, to be used with basins.

Evening meals are taken on camps prepared by the assistance team, or in hotel restaurants or a local restaurant. At noon, during horseback rides, picnics are prepared and brought by the assistance team. Two lunches are free (not included) in Petra and the Dead Sea.
LUGGAGE TRANSFERS:
The assistants transfer luggage every day by car.

Magnifique rando, paysages grandioses, bivouacs bien choisis dans des endroits beaux et très peu fréquentés. Prise en charges impeccable. Très belle rando à cheval, guide sympathique et très professionnel. Jolis chevaux bien soignés. 3 nuits d'hôtel satisfaisantes, repas sous forme de buffet avec beaucoup de choix, autres nuits en bivouac et repas préparés avec soin par le cuisinier d'accompagnement. D'une façon générale mon séjour a été Excellent !
