HORSE RIDE IN OMAN
INDICATIVE ITINERARY *
Day 1: Arrival at Seeb international airport and transfer to your hotel located nearby Mutrah Souk and Old Muscat City with palace and museum. Afternoon city tour, Mutrah Souk, one of the most popular souks in the Middle East. Take a walk in its labyrinths with a myriad of merchandise, from imported fabrics to exotic Oriental spices, perfumes and richly handcrafted Artifacts. A visit to this frenetic, pulsating hub of Muscat’s old quarter makes for a delightful experience. After Mutrah 5 minutes by taxi, the magnificent Al Alam Palace, the official residence of His Majesty Sultan Qaboos Bin Said the ruler of Oman. The palace is an architectural marvel for both its design and its location between the twin Portuguese forts Mirani and Jalali.

Day 2 - In the Hajar Mountains.
Transfer to Ibra, where your horses await. First ride through the Hajar Mountains, with their unique black sands and volcanic landscapes. Overnight: Camping under the stars.
Day 3: Desert Villages.
After a traditional Omani breakfast, continue to the villages of Al Wasel and Bidiya. First views of the Wahiba Sands Desert appear on the horizon. Overnight: Comfortable desert camp.
Day 4: Enter the Wahiba Sands.
Ride through the Al Awaoua Valleys, with their impressive red sand dunes and acacia trees.
Overnight: Desert camp.
Day 5: Into the heart of the desert.
Deep into the sand dunes towards Beit Al Hajuz. Meet Bedouin families along the way.
Overnight: Mobile camp.
Day 6: Into the Wahiba Wilderness.
You cross the wildest and most isolated part of the Wahiba Desert: deep sands, shifting dunes, and rare saltwater wells.
Overnight: Mobile camp.
Day 7: Beit al-Bint region.
Cross the dunes towards the Beit al-Bint Bedouin camp. The landscape begins to change: the red dunes give way to white sand.
Overnight: Camp relocation.
Day 8: Arrival on the coast.
Last day on horseback towards the Arabian Sea.
Spectacular landscapes of immense white dunes and coastal winds.
Overnight: Camp on the beach.
Day 9: Fishing Villages and Sur.
Arrival at the Arabian Sea and visit a traditional fishing village.
Transfer to Sur and overnight at the hotel.
Day 10: Coastal road and wadis.
Visit the dhow museum in Sur.
Scenic drive along the coastal road: Wadi Tiwi, Wadi Shab, and Bimmah Chasm.
Return to Muscat, beachfront hotel.
Day 11: Departure.
Transfer to the airport after breakfast.

RIDING LEVEL:
You must be able to walk, trot, canter and galop outdoor on open spaces. The riding time depends on the level of the group, the horses, the terrain and the weather. To be able to participate in this hike, we require a good experience of the hike, to be comfortable at 3 paces. Arabian horses are enduring but not very supportive. Thus, we ask riders over 85 kg to tell us before booking, in order to validate with the guide the availability of a suitable horse.

About 4-5 hours on horseback per day, 35 km / day. Paces vary depending on the terrain with good canter opportunities when the terrain permits.

MEALS:
The lunches, brought by the logistics vehicle will be taken in full nature. Dinners are planned at the restaurant when you are in town, otherwise they will be prepared by the logistic team who will make you appreciate the products of the country. Bottled water are provided at the table and during the ride. The cook, a very important person, will introduce you to Omani cuisine and the rest of the team the traditions and culture of the country. In order to respect local customs, religions and traditions, alcohol is prohibited on this ride.
HORSES:
Omani and Anglo-Arabs. These breeds, particularly renowned for their endurance and resistance to hot weather, will be appreciated during your long days on horseback.
TACK:
English type saddles. The saddles are equipped with saddle bags to put your belongings during the day.
GUIDE:
You will be supervised by an English speaking guide and / or Francophone specialist of the region ... The logistics team ensures the stewardship of the ride, as well as your road transfers so that you make the most of your trip.
RIDING LEVEL:
You ride on average 20 km per day: about 4 hours of horse. The riding times depend on the rider levels, the horses, the terrain and the weather. To be able to take part in this ride, we ask a good riding experience, to be at the 3 paces (walk, trot, canter). The horses of Arab race are enduring but not very carrying. Thus, we ask riders over 85 kg to tell us before booking, to validate with the guide the availability of a suitable horse.
CLIMATE:
The temperatures are very hot in the summer, which is why we leave early in the morning and extend the lunch break. It can be quite cold in the winter, especially on the plateaus. As in any desert, the thermal amplitude varies greatly between day and night. In the off-season, it is not too hot, but the nights are cool and a refreshment is always possible.
