The trail provides an unequalled opportunity to explore the highlands of Kerry with the majestic McGillicuddy Reeks, Ireland’s highest mountain range.  Ride on country lanes and mountain tracks and some of the beaches at Waterville and on the magnificent stretch of golden sand at Rossbeigh. The Iveragh Peninsula, with many places of archaeological and historic interest stretches Southwest from Killarney for nearly 40 miles and is highlighted by the world renowned Ring of Kerry.

Day 1 - Saturday: Meeting at the equestrian center near Killarney before 6 pm. Presentation and transfer to your overnight accommodation in Killarney. You can have dinner in any restaurant or pub in the town.

Day 2 - Sunday: The day begins with a short trip to the base of Seefinn Mountain, where the first days ride starts. When horses and riders have been introduced, the ride heads off, and up over the Windy Gap, viewing the splendour of Caragh Lake and the valley beyond. The ride then continues on to Coomasaharn Lake enclosed by Horseshoe Mountain, followed by a scenic ride over an Irish Bog, finishing for the day in Mountain Stage. The overnight stop for Sunday and Monday night is by the quaint village of Glenbeigh. (Glenbeigh comes from Gleann Beithe, the Glen of the Birch Trees). Surrounded almost entirely by mountains, Glenbeigh offers a famous friendliness and humour. The beauty of the area is breath-taking, with the River Behy and Rossbeigh Strand close by. History is evident throughout the locality and such a destination as Winn’s Folly Castle is well worth a visit.

Day 3 - Monday: After breakfast riders are collected at the accommodation, and returned to Mountain Stage to begin Monday’s ride. The day is spent on Rossbeigh beach, galloping along stretches of golden sand. The panorama of Dingle and the Iveragh Penninsula to the North and South. Lunch on the beach. Afterwards some more galloping, returning from the beach via the Cliff Road. (Only riders who can canter competently are taken on the beach).

Day 4 - Tuesday: Riders are collected after breakfast. Luggage ready for transfer to Waterville. A morning ride takes horse and rider from Kells Station through the bogs of Cnoc Bawn and on to Liss Bawn, taking in some spectacular views and its surrounds. Lunch is served alongside a nearby forestry. After lunch continue on through Island Boy and the Inny Valley. Finishing for the day alongside the Tulligane Woods and the Old School House. The overnight stop for Tuesday and Wednesday is spent by the coastal town of Waterville.

Day 5 - Wednesday: WEDNESDAY -  Riders are collected after breakfast at Waterville. Departs from the Old School House for a forestry ride, leaving the Inny Valley behind and crossing over to Derriana, to take the old road to Cahersavane. Lunching with views over Lough Currane Afterwards continue a scenic ride into Waterville. We sometimes do the beach ride on Wednesday evening if the tide is too early or too late on Thursday, making Wednesday a long day and Thursday a short day with a scenic ride.

Day 6 - Thursday: THURSDAY - Breakfast. Riders are collected after breakfast at Waterville. , subject to tidal conditions. Luggage ready for transfer to Killarney for final accommodation move. The day begins with a scenic ride, followed after lunch with a ride to Waterville Beach. (Only riders who can canter competently are taken on the beach) The panorama of Hogg Head and Ballinskelligs Bay conjures up the afternoon ride in Waterville. Afterwards, both horses and riders are transferred back to Killarney.

Day 7 - Friday: Breakfast & Departure. If you need to arrange transfers etc or need bus or trail times, it’s best to do all this on check-in on the previous Saturday.

Saturday afternoon at the equestrian center before 6 p.m. or paid transfer from Cork airport (2 hrs drive), Shannon (2 hrs drive) or Kerry (15 mins drive). Free transfer from Killarney train station (Dublin and Cork train), and from Killarney bus station (Shannon and Cork bus).

Friday morning after breakfast. Chargeable transfer possible to Cork, Shannon or Kerry airport, free to Killarney train and bus stations.

Shannon airport transfers: 180 € / transfer / car for 3 people

Ireland's climate is mild, humid and variable with abundant rainfall and few extreme temperatures.
