image-20211128150706-1This week horseback ride will make you discover two contrasting aspects of Provence in two Natural Parks: the Luberon and the Camargue.
In the Luberon, three days on horseback, you will discover with our horses and our guide: its hilly landscapes with its perched villages, its Mediterranean flora and fauna. You will hike in the Luberon valleys, up to the ridges, then along orchards of peach, apricot, vines, almond and olive image-20211128200003-1trees. A full day ride with a picnic on the Durance river bank will introduce you to a wide variety of migratory birds including the superb bee-eater, and perhaps beavers ...
In the Camargue for two days, you will be able to discover with a Camargue guide, the ornithological wealth and the wild beauty of sectors accessible only on horseback with a special authorization. You ride among Camargue horses, bulls, and pink flamingos. Beautiful final galloping on the beach !

Programme intro


Sunday: Free transfer from Marseille airport (5 pm), Aix en Provence tgv train station (5:30 pm), Aix en Provence center train station (5:45 pm). Or meeting directly at your accommodation in Lauris in the Luberon at 7 pm. Welcome aperitif and presentation of the trail ride. You will be introduced to your guide and spend a first friendly dinner at he «host’s table». Overnight at at Les Gargoulettes guesthouse.

image 1604Monday: After breakfast, attribution of your horse for the three days in the Luberon, preparation, departure for a 2 hour trail ride. Lunch. In the afternoon, ride 2 hours at the foot of the Luberon. Back to your accommodation, dinner and overnight.

Tuesday: Departure for a day ride to the banks of the Durance. Pleasant ride that allows you to discover a variety of landscapes, pine forests, wild scrubland of the Luberon massif to the edge of the Durance, its beautiful shady trails at which you can discover many birds, including the majestic gray heron. Picnic at the edge of the Durance. Back to your accommodation, where you will be able to enjoy the pool. Dinner, overnight at yourimage 2145 accommodation.

Wednesday: In the morning, a 2-hour ride at the foot of the Luberon: in the pine forests, along the vineyards, olive groves and other orchards. At noon, we take you by minibus to Lourmarin, a superb classified village with its castle where Albert Camus rests . You can have lunch in the village, in a bistro or restaurant, then stroll through the village before your guide picks you up to take you back to the equestrian center. Departure for a 2 hour trail ride in the Luberon valleys. End of the part on horseback in the Luberon. Goodbye to your horse, then transfer by minibus (about 1 hour) or departure with your car for the Camargue and your evening accommodation: a bed and breakfast or a hotel in the heart of the Camargue. Dinner and night in the Camargue.

rando à cheval en CamargueThursday: Presentation of your Camargue guide and allocation of your horse for these two days in the Camargue. Departure for a day of horse riding in the heart of the Camargue. Ride along the Petit Rhône. Cross the Petit Rhône with your horse by a ferry, and on horseback to the "Domaine du Grand Radeau": protected area, access to which is regulated. You ride in this wild site, crossing its marshes, then its superb pine forest, before reaching the beach. Picnic on the beach, and possibility of swimming during the lunch break… Return to the farm, aperitif, dinner and overnight stay.

Rando à cheval CamargueFriday: A morning ride on the beaches. Nice gallops and walk in the sea. The lunch will be prepared at the hotel by your assistant, and the afternoon you will ride along the Vacares lake: you will discover a lot of flamingos and wild birds on a pleasant trail. Transfer to Pioch Badet bus stop. Then, regular bus to Arles train station. Train to Marseille airport or any other destination.

Day 1 afternoon (usually Sunday, check according to the dates) at your accommodation in Lauris at 7pm. Free transfer from Marseille airport (5 pm), Aix en Provence TGV station (5:30 pm), Aix en Provence center train station (5:45 pm).


At the end of the afternoon of the last day in the Camargue (Friday). Free transfer to the Pioch Badet Car bus stop at 7:33 p.m. for Arles station at 8:15 p.m., to be checked: See schedule. You can take a train from Arles to Marseille airport: See scedule.

To participate and enjoy this trip on horseback, it is imperative to be comfortable at the three gaits (walk, trot, canter) on balanced horses.

4 to 5 hours per day on horseback on average: about 2-3 hours in the morning, 2-3 hours in the afternoon, with a long break of about 2 hours at noon. At the three gaits: walk, trot, canter when the terrain allows it. Beautiful canters on the Camargue beaches.

4 to 8 riders + the guide. Up to 10 riders in Camargue.

A qualified guide speaking French and English. A guide specializing in the Luberon, another guide specializing in the Camargue.

Horses are allocated after discussion with your guide according to your height, weight, level and experience. All of our horses are "professionals" in trail riding: they only do this activity. They are never locked in boxes, they live in herds all year round, from November to March in semi-freedom on more than 500 ha. For these reasons, they are balanced, kind and willful.

Evening meals are taken at the guest table of your guest house in the Luberon. In the Luberon, a lunch is free to enjoy the charming village of Lourmarin and its many cafes and restaurants. In the Camargue, at the guesthouse table (simple accommodation package) or in a typical Camargue restaurant at the hotel (upgrade accommodation package). Local cuisine, varied and refined. Special diets can be adapted. Wine is included with meals. At noon, picnics are prepared and taken in the saddlebags.
