The Imouzzer region of Ida Outanane (Tanani Country), is unquestionably the most popular site in this mountainous area of the High Morocco Atlas. This horseback ride starts from the surroundings of Souss Massa and takes you to the heart of the Berber country of the Ida Outanane. The Tanani country is a group of Amazigh tribes, which only joined the central government in 1927. The province of Ida Outanane is famous for the different varieties of honey found there. This peculiarity gives its name to the road that leads to the village of Imouzzer, called: the honey road. This region is home to the largest and oldest traditional apiary in the world, a true treasure of Berber heritage. This region is also known for its cultivations of terraced almond trees, its deep valleys, its waterfalls, its palm groves, and its villages perched on top of the cliffs.

Itinerary

HORSEBACK RIDING TRIP IN MOROCCO
INDICATIVE ITINERARY *

Day 1: Arrival at Agadir airport. Welcome and transfer of about 1 hour to Taghazoute for dinner and overnight in a hotel.

image-20230128162259-1 Day 2: Transfer to the horse farm in Iwlit. Meeting with the team and allocation of horses. Departure of the horseback ride towards the first foothills of the High Atlas. You cross several Berber hamlets and villages before reaching the small Oasis of Tifratine. Lunch in the shade of the palm trees. In the afternoon, you leave this oasis to join a trail that takes you to the splendid palm grove of Tamzargoute. Night in a guest house.

Day 3: After breakfast, you continue your horseback ride to the famous Paradise Valley: a popular place for hippies in the 60s, and breathtakingly beautiful. Passage along the Oued Tanit to the gorges, then you ride up to reach the beautiful village of Kacht. This passage offers you a beautiful panoramic view of the mountains and the high valleys of the Western Atlas. Late morning descending by a path overlooking the canyon of the Tifrit Valley and its villages clinging to the cliffs. Lunch at the edge of the Oued and swimming possible in natural pools. In the afternoon, you go back up to join your evening guest house which overlooks the Valley of Paradise.

image-20230128163106-1 Day 4: You regain altitude following a track serving a series of typical stone villages, perched on the relief. All around: many terraces allowing the cultivation of almond trees, fig trees, carob trees, which bear witness to the laborious work carried out by the ancients. You ride up to the Tama pass at 1300 m. You reach the Ait Oussouri valley. You stop there for lunch. In the afternoon, you continue your ride to the military fort of Imouzzer ida Ou Tanane (The Ida Outanane are a confederation of Berber tribes occupying the extreme west of the High Atlas) which majestically overlooks the village and the Tidili valley. Night at the "Waterfall" hotel.

Day 5: After breakfast, visit the traditional Berber souk, which is the weekly gathering place for locals. You then set off on horseback towards the plateau of Ait Mansour by a track that connects small villages, surrounded by terraced almond cultivation. You reach a pass from where you dominate a wide splendid valley. Lunch in the valley. In the afternoon, you ride along a spectacular canyon. After crossing a pass at an altitude of 1400 m, you reach the Oued of Ait Nzig which you follow to the village Doussoulil. Dinner and night in a guest house.

image-20230128162926-1 Day 6: The village of Inzerki is the destination of your ride today. This mountain village, at an altitude of 1400m, is famous for the production of honey. The Apiary of Inzerki is considered the largest traditional apiary in the world, and probably the oldest. It is a real treasure of the heritage of Souss Massa. This area produces honey considered one of the best in Morocco, and the sale of products by the cooperative is very often the only source of income for families. After the visit of this place you join your hotel for the night.

Day 7: Depart on horseback towards the lake of the Abd Elmoumene dam. You begin your descent to the village of Tazarine. You continue through goat pastures and Argan forests, to the Issen valley which you follow to the dam. End of your horseback riding. Transfer to Agadir. Dinner and overnight at the hotel.

Day 8: End of your week in Morocco after breakfast. Transfer to Agadir airport and return flight.

Riding

RIDING LEVEL:
You must be able to walk, trot, canter outdoor, and in good physical condition.

GROUPS:
Up to 8 riders + guides.

RYTHM:
You ride 2-3 hours, 2-3 hours the afternoon at the 3 paces (walk, trot, canter) depending on the terrain.

GUIDE & TEAM:
All rides are supervised by 4 people all from the same family: 2 on horseback and 2 assistants in charge of luggage transfers, camp and dinner preparation. The guide and the team speak French, the guide and most of the team speak English.

In comfortable hotels and guest houses every evening, several accommodations with swimming pool.

Evening meals are Moroccan meals (couscous, chicken tagine with vegetables, meat with vegetables, grilled meats...dessert soup, mint tea, coffee. Drinks: mineral water, tea, coffee. Alcohol does not is not included but it is possible to buy some before the start of the ride (purchase in the shops in town). At noon, the picnics are carried in the saddlebags, often various Moroccan salads. 2 lunches are prepared and brought by the assistant.

The facility / guide / instructor may exclude on site and without compensation, any person whose information is different from the information provided on the registration form, and/or who does not correspond to the conditions of participation.

3. INSURANCES:
Cap Rando is covered for its professional civil liability: GENERALI contract n ° AL974010.
To register on a Cap Rando holiday, you must be covered by an individual liability insurance covering your activity, individual accident, assistance, repatriation, and possibly cancellation (strongly recommended not to lose your payment in case of cancellation for a reason covered by a cancellation insurance).
We offer to Europe Union, Switzerland, Liechtenstein, Norway residents (only) to subscribe the "Cap Security" insurance from Chapka Insurance. This covers you for cancellation, interruption of stay, individual accident, assistance 24h / 24h, repatriation, medical expenses abroad, luggage insurance, civil liability. You can also only subscribe a "Cap Cancellation" cancellation insurance if you have insurance covering other risks.

4. PAYMENT:
- For a stay starting at more than 60 days: It is requested at registration: 30% of the price of the stay, the payment of the insurance possibly subscribed, the transport possibly requested, the booking fees. The balance is to be paid 60 days before the start date of the stay.
- For a stay starting at less than 60 days: Full payment is requested upon registration.
- For a stay starting at less than 21 days: Full payment by credit card is requested upon registration.
- If these are the last places available: Payment by credit card is requested upon registration.
You can pay:
- By credit card on our secure payment website: You will be directed to the payment link after completing the online booking form.
- By bank transfer: Our bank information will be sent to you after reception of your booking form.
For a quick processing and to secure your registration, receipt of your confirmation file within 24-48 hours: choose a payment by credit card. In addition: payment by credit card can allow you to benefit from its possible insurance.
Please note: your reservation will only be confirmed after receipt of your payment.

5. CONFIRMATION:
You will receive a confirmation file and contract with the invoice and all useful information within 24-48 hours after reception of your registration form and payment.

6. TRANSPORTS:
Before booking your transport: we advise you to wait for the receipt of the confirmation file and check that your transports feet with the meeting/separation times of the offered transfers. We recommend booking refundable transports.

7. CANCELATION POLICY:
Please note: Any stay may be canceled if there are insufficient bookings to ensure the stay up to 20 days before the date of a stay of more than 6 days, 7 days for a stay of 2 to 5 days. In this case, you may be offered a replacement stay or a departure with a supplement, if these proposals do not suit you: a full refund (unless you have accepted a possible supplement upon registration), excluding booking fees and possible non-refundable transport, is guaranteed without compensation.

A perfect horse. Tack: everything was comfortable!
Accommodation: Very good choice of hostels. Perfect lunches and dinners meals. Beautiful discoveries !
Cap Rando Services: Everything is always very clear and your responses are always very quick !
For this trip, I advise you to tell future registrants to bring all-terrain shoes. Ankle boots are not suitable in these rocky and beautiful spaces (although it was ok for me).
