This exceptional week horseback trail ride, allows you to discover three totally different ecosystems in one week: the astonishing Cabo de Gata natural park and its wild beaches, the Tabernas desert, the only desert in Europe, and the majestic Sierra Nevada national park, the highest peaks in southern Andalusia.
These three sites are separated by barely 100 kilometers. Allowing riders to travel on horseback through a wide variety of landscapes in just one week: between Mediterranean beaches, desert, and mountains ! A "sporty" experience that allows you to enjoy breathtaking natural landscapes by crossing them to the rhythm of your horse's three paces with many beautiful canters. A route of great cultural richness: this trail ride passes by famous western movie shooting sites, crosses villages imbued with the Muslim influence of the 11th century, and mountains populated by bulls roaming free. HORSE RIDING WEEK IN ANDALUSIA
INDICATIVE ITINERARY *
Day 1 (Sunday): Meet directly at the hotel in San Jose at 7:30 p.m. Or transfer at 5 p.m. from Almeria airport to your hotel. Presentation of the ride, dinner and night in a hotel in San Jose.
Day 2 (Monday): Cabo de Gata Natural Park. San Jose - Arrecife - San Jose. Indiana Jones Beaches.
After breakfast, at 9:30 a.m., you meet the horses at the stables, located next to the hotel. We introduce you to your companion, who will accompany you throughout the week. After having prepared and tacked your horse, you leave for the unspoilt beaches of the Cabo de Gata: Genoveses, Mónsul, Media Luna and the Mermaids Reef: famous settings for emblematic shots of movies like "Indiana Jones" or "For a fistful of dollars", which you will immediately recognize. At noon, you picnic at "El Romeral": a property dotted with typical andalusian buildings, which were once used by farmers. After lunch and a break, you return to San Jose, going up the Tesorillo Valley. Dinner and overnight at the hotel.
Day 3 (Tuesday): Cabo de Gata Natural Park. San Jose - Los Escullos - San Jose. The Pirate's Path.
At 9:30 a.m., you get your horse ready again and set off from San Jose towards Los Escullos, following a wide path that runs along the coast and offers impressive panoramic views of the sea and hidden coves with crystal clear waters. As you advance, you come across small castles and watchtowers that once served to prevent possible incursions by Genoese, Berber or Turkish pirates. Back in San José, around 3 p.m., you enjoy a paella at the restaurant. After lunch, you leave by car to Tabernas, about 1 hour drive. Installation at your hotel and "western" dinner to put you in the mood !
Day 4 (Wednesday): Tabernas Natural Park. In the footsteps of Clint Eastwood.
In the heart of the Tabernas Desert, known as Spanish Hollywood, you explore the canyons that legends such as Clint Eastwood, Lee Van Cleef and Eli Wallach have traversed on horseback. This landscape evokes the landscapes of Arizona and the Sonoran Desert in Mexico. In the 1960s, this place was used as the setting for the filming of famous "spaghetti" westerns. You picnic on the way in a canyon, the Canyon de Emboscada, and in the evening you enjoy a pleasant barbecue at your hotel.
Day 5 (Thursday): Tabernas Natural Park. The oasis of Laurence of Arabia.
You go back south, following the canyon of the Oasis with its surprising little streams of water scattered everywhere, to the palm grove where Laurence of Arabia was filmed. From there, you head to Fort Bravo, to gallop through its streets and, later, watch the sheriff catch the bandits who robbed the bank. Picnic inside Fort Bravo, next to the Mexican village. After the picnic, we take you by car to the Sierra Nevada, to your hotel in Cogollos de Guadix (about an hour drive).
Day 6 (Friday): Sierra Nevada Natural Park. Lugros - Sendero de los pastores - The Pantaneta - Lugros.
After breakfast, we will drive you to the stables in the Sierra Nevada, located 15 minutes from the hotel. Your destination is La Pantaneta, a picturesque lake originating from the meltwaters of the Sierra Nevada. You reach it by the Sendero de los Pastores (Path of the Shepherds), which offers magnificent views of the plateau at 1,200 meters above sea level, passing through dense pine forests. You picnic at La Pantaneta, where the most intrepid can cool off ! Then you return to the finca to leave the horses, then we accompany you to your hotel before dinner.
Day 7 (Saturday): Sierra Nevada Natural Park. Lugros - Camarate - Lugros.
After breakfast and a short 15 minute drive to the meeting point with the horses, you set off towards El Camarate. As you go up, you take easy paths and paths, lined with oaks and olive trees, then mountain paths. These same paths were once used to guide cows and bulls to the high mountain meadows. Around noon, you reach an altitude of 2,000 meters, in a site with vast meadows and trees of Atlantic origin. You take the picnic from the saddle bags there. After lunch, you start the descent back to Lugros, where you say goodbye to your horse, then head to Cogollos de Guadix by car. Gourmet dinner and authentic flamenco show at La Almazara de Paulenca.
Day 8 (Sunday): End of your horseback riding in Andalusia and transfer after breakfast to Almeria airport or to pick up your car in San Jose.

MEETING:
Sunday afternoon in Andalusia at Almeria airport at 5 p.m., free transfer (45 mins) to the hotel in San José, or directly to the hotel in the evening.
DEPARTURE:
End your horseback riding in Andalusia on Sunday morning after breakfast. Departure at 10am transfer to Almeria airport (1h15), or to pick up your vehicle in San Jose.
BUSES:
From Malaga airport (terminal 3) or from Granada bus station, you can take a bus to Almeria.

CAR RENTAL:
We recommend car rental, particularly cheap in Spain from 30 € per week), on the site www.autoeurope.fr if you do not arrive in Almeria: flights are often cheaper to Malaga with many lowcost companies. About 4 hour drive from Malaga, 2 hours 30 from Granada.
RIDING LEVEL: 
You must be able to walk, trot, canter and canter outdoor on open spaces, in good physical condition.
GUIDE:
Professional licensed guide. The guide speaks Spanish, French and some English.
GROUPS:
From 2-3 riders (with supplement) to 8 riders + the guide.
RYTHM:
4 days: 5 to 6 hours on horseback per day, 2-3 hours in the morning, 2-3 hours in the afternoon.
2 days: 1/2 days of 3-4 hours on horseback.
HORSES:
Mixed Spanish and Arabian horses, well balanced, trail rides professionals.
TACK:
English and trail ride saddles.
ACCOMMODATION: 
You will be accommodated in 3 different very comfortable hotels. In double or single bedrooms with supplement.

A civil liability and travel insurance (assistance/repatriation) is compulsory. A cancellation insurance is strongly recommended.
