Programme intro


INDICATIVE ITINERARY * :


Day 1: Meeting at Saint-Rémy-les-Chevreuses train station at 6 p.m., transfer to the guesthouse where you will spend your first night. Presentation of your guide and your ride before dinner.

Day 2: Breakfast at 8 a.m. and you will start to ride a 9 a.m. You can’t imagine you’re so close from Paris. You will leave Magny-le-Hameau to reach the Versailles forest to reach Saint-Cyr-l’Ecole and the Versailles castle royal door. You will be impressed to enter the castle park ! You will ride along the Grand Canal and pass near the Grand Trianon. You will have a picnic at Saint-Antoine seed bed. The afternoon, you will ride through the parade ground, le Swiss fountains, and through the Versailles state forest to come back to your guesthouse.
 
Day 3: Breakfast at 8 a.m. The ride starts at 10 a.m. You will ride in the Chevreuse valley to the Breteuil castle for the picnic and a visit. It was built during the 16th century, Louis XII style, you will enjoy the furniture of this castle. The chateau is set in a listed park of some 90 hectares. The afternoon you will ride through different landscapes, woods and ponds, to reach the Vaux de Cernay abbaye. The abbaye was built by cistercien monks during the 12th century. The evening, you will arrive at Tour pond, one of the huge water reserve built to bring the water to the Versailles castle. Overnight in a hotel in Rambouillet.
 
Day 4: Breakfast at 8 a.m. The ride starts at 10 a.m. You will ride through the Rambouillet forest, royal and hunting forest, you will admire the century old oaks. Picnic will be prepared and will wait for the riders near the Marais castle (19th century). Many writers and politics have loved to stay in this castle. The afternoon, you will have a pleasant ride on rolling hills, wide plains and through nice forests to reach Breuillet where you will spend the night in a hotel.
 
Day 5: Breakfast at 8 a.m. The ride starts at 10 a.m. Your ride will start on hills, seeing the Saint-Sulpice-de-Favieres church, gothic style, built in 1245. Then, you will have the picnic at Chamarande castle, Louis XIII style, built during the 17th century. This place is dedicated to contemporary art. This afternoon, you will ride on pleasant trails under trees to reach Itteville.
 
Day 6: Breakfast at 8 a.m. The ride starts at 10 a.m. Your ride will start in cultures and woods and will follow part of a Roman road. You will have the picnic at Courances castle and visit of the gardens: one of the nicest Renaissance water garden created during the 17th century. The afternoon, you will enjoy nice canters and gallops in the Fontainebleau forest and you will arrive near the Fontainebleau castle.
 
Day 7: Breakfast at 8 a.m. The ride starts at 10 a.m. A morning ride in the Fontainebleau forest. You will be surprised by the variety of landscapes, sometime rocky, sometime sandy and the diversity of woods: birches, oaks, beeches, … The picnic will be prepared on the Seine bank The afternoon, you will ride to Vaux-le-Vicomte castle, built by Nicolas Fouquet in 1615, it used to be a model to Louis XIV for the Versailles castle. Visit of the castle late the afternoon (or morning of day 8 on some dates).
 
Day 8: End after breakfast. Transfer to Melun train station at noon.
 
At some dates, the ride is run in reverse direction.
