Horseback riding in Morocco. The Great Moroccan South separates the Saghro massif from the dune formations that appear in the west of the Oued Draa. At the gates of the great desert, the Moroccan Sahara is crossed by many nomads. This horseback trail ride is ideal to approach the desert wild life. A very varied itinerary, between dunes, arid plateaus, oases, palm groves, and superb kasbahs, which will allow you to immerse yourself during a few days in the desert life.

Itinerary

HORSEBACK TRAIL RIDE IN MOROCCO
INDICATIVE ITINERARY *

Day 1: Meeting at Ouarzazate airport at the end of the afternoon. Transfer to the hotel in the city center.

Day 2: Ouarzazate - Faija Plateau - Foum Laachar. Departure for Zagora and the desert through a mineral landscape where you soon discover, arriving in Agdz, the wonderful oasis of the beautiful Drâa Valley, dotted with fortified villages (Ksour). Arrive in Zagora place of departure of the equestrian ride. The route first crosses the Oasis of Zagora then direction full West by the plateau of Faija. Bivouac in Foum Laachar.

horse riding Morocco Day 3: Oasis Faija - Foum Laachar Pass - Oasis Mhasser. After breakfast, horse riding towards Jebel Bani. Panoramic view from Col Foum Laachar on the large desert plateau and green oases. Descent to the nomad camps and the oasis, lunch under the palm trees and acacias to reach the camp at the oasis of Mhasser.

Day 4: Oued Mhasser - Dunes of CHegaga. Horseback ride in this beautiful mountain landscape, meeting with nomads. Picnic at the exit of this mineral universe. Afternoon, crossing the large plateaus (reg) at a faster pace. Arrival in the evening at the big dunes of Chegaga. Camp near the dunes.

Day 5: Dunes of CHegaga - Dunes of Bougarn - El Bour. Departure on horseback along the beautiful dunes of Chegaga. The ride takes place alternately in the dunes or on the reg, between sand and desert plataus. This Saharan day stretches to reach your camp in the middle of nowhere.

equestrian holidays Morocco Day 6: El Bour - Dunes of M'Hamid. The ride continues on horseback through the Hamada Du Draa, vast desert expanse (reg), ideal for nice canters. Picnic in the dunes. Afternoon, crossing the dunes of M'Hamid. Bivouac.

Day 7: Dunes of M'Hamid - Ouled Driss - Ouarzazate. Riding towards the end of the Draa Valley. Some houses appear in the middle of the palm of Bounou. This ksar (fortified village) is one of the most beautiful in the valley. Arrival on horseback at the village of Ouled Driss. Farewell to your horse and the team, and transfer to Ouarzazate early in the afternoon. Dinner and overnight at the hotel.

Day 8: Transfer to Ouarzazate airport after breakfast and return flight.

MEETING/DEPARTURE

MEETING:
Day 1 (usually Sunday) afternoon at Ouarzazate airport (free transfer). From Marrakech, you can take a bus to Ouarzazate, 3h30 drive, companies: SUPRATOUR or CTM. We can also book a taxi for you (around 70 € - 4 hours drive).

DEPARTURE:
Day 8 (usually Sunday) morning after breakfast. Free transfer to Ouarzazate airport. Bus or taxi to Marrakech.

FLIGHTS:
Our trips do not include flights because it is generally more advantageous to book your transport yourself, avoiding agency commissions. We are at your disposal to help you find the best flight deals and possibly offer you a stay including flights: free service.

Riding

RIDING LEVEL:
You must be able to walk, trot, canter outdoor, and in good physical condition.

GROUPS:
Up to 8 riders + guides.

RYTHM:
You ride 2-3 hours, 2-3 hours the afternoon at the 3 paces (walk, trot, canter) depending on the terrain.

GUIDE & TEAM:
All rides are supervised by 4 people all from the same family: 2 on horseback and 2 assistants in charge of luggage transfers, camp and dinner preparation. The guide and the team speak French, the guide and most of the team speak English.

Comfort

ACCOMMODATION:
First and last night at the hotel. Other nights in camps. Camps: a large mess tent is set up every evening, individual tents and comfortable mattresses are provided, a shower and external toilets are available. A team follows the hride with assistance vehicles, ensuring the camp preparation, transporting luggage, preparing meals. Some dates may be available with hotel accommodation every night.

MEALS:
Evening meals are Moroccan (couscous, tagine chicken with vegetables, meat with vegetables, grilled meats ... desert, soup, mint tea, coffee. The Moroccan cuisine reputation is well established ! Drinks: mineral water, tea, coffee. Alcoholic drinks are not provided but it is possible to buy some before the start of your ride (purchase in stores in town). At noon, picnics are taken in saddlebags, often various Moroccan salads.

THE PRICE INCLUDES:
Horse and tack rental, guide, assistants, accommodation, all meals, drinks during meals (mineral water, tea, coffe), luggage transfers, transfer from/to Ouarzazate airport, our travel agent bond to guarantee your payments.

THE PRICE DOESN'T INCLUDE:
Individual insurance, extra drinks (out of meals and not include such as alcool and sodas), visits, tips, all that is not indicated in "PRICE INCLUDES".

INSURANCE:
A civil liability and travel insurance (assistance/repatriation) is compulsory. A cancellation insurance is strongly recommended.
A payment by credit card can make you benefit from its possible insurance (check your contract).
We offer to Europe Union, Switzerland, Liechtenstein, Norway residents: the Chapka insurances.
Cap Security: full insurance with cancellation. Cap Cancellation: cancellation only.

Your personal information (birth date, height, weight, riding level & experience, health information, etc.) are contractuals. The facility / guide / instructor may exclude on site and without compensation, any person whose information is different from the information provided on the registration form, and/or who does not correspond to the conditions of participation.

3. INSURANCES:
Cap Rando is covered for its professional civil liability: GENERALI contract n ° AL974010.
To register on a Cap Rando holiday, you must be covered by an individual liability insurance covering your activity, individual accident, assistance, repatriation, and possibly cancellation (strongly recommended not to lose your payment in case of cancellation for a reason covered by a cancellation insurance).
We offer to Europe Union, Switzerland, Liechtenstein, Norway residents (only) to subscribe the "Cap Security" insurance from Chapka Insurance. This covers you for cancellation, interruption of stay, individual accident, assistance 24h / 24h, repatriation, medical expenses abroad, luggage insurance, civil liability. You can also only subscribe a "Cap Cancellation" cancellation insurance if you have insurance covering other risks.

For other country citizens: if you pay by credit card, depending on your card, you may be fully covered: check your contract.

4. PAYMENT:
- For a stay starting at more than 60 days: It is requested at registration: 30% of the price of the stay, the payment of the insurance possibly subscribed, the transport possibly requested, the booking fees. The balance is to be paid 60 days before the start date of the stay.
- For a stay starting at less than 60 days: Full payment is requested upon registration.
- For a stay starting at less than 21 days: Full payment by credit card is requested upon registration.
- If these are the last places available: Payment by credit card is requested upon registration.
You can pay:
- By credit card on our secure payment website: You will be directed to the payment link after completing the online booking form.
- By bank transfer: Our bank information will be sent to you after reception of your booking form.
For a quick processing and to secure your registration, receipt of your confirmation file within 24-48 hours: choose a payment by credit card. In addition: payment by credit card can allow you to benefit from its possible insurance.
Please note: your reservation will only be confirmed after receipt of your payment.
Your payments are guaranted by our GROUPAMA travel agent bond.
If you book a trip through Cap Rando, you have the guarantee not to loose any payment.
The French law is the strongest and requires all French travel agencies to have an unlimited financial guarantee for their customers in case of financial failure.

5. CONFIRMATION:
You will receive a confirmation file and contract with the invoice and all useful information within 24-48 hours after reception of your registration form and payment.

6. TRANSPORTS:
Before booking your transport: we advise you to wait for the receipt of the confirmation file and check that your transports feet with the meeting/separation times of the offered transfers. We recommend booking refundable transports.

7. CANCELATION POLICY:
Please note: Any stay may be canceled if there are insufficient bookings to ensure the stay up to 20 days before the date of a stay of more than 6 days, 7 days for a stay of 2 to 5 days. In this case, you may be offered a replacement stay or a departure with a supplement, if these proposals do not suit you: a full refund (unless you have accepted a possible supplement upon registration), excluding booking fees and possible non-refundable transport, is guaranteed without compensation.
